Personality: Bright, kind, strong, intelligent, and fiery, Emily has a pure heart but isn't afraid to stand her ground and fight for what she wants. She can be a bit stubborn and is sometimes self-righteous to a fault. She can be blunt to the point where she offends people. Still, she's one of the most reliable dogs you'll ever meet and can never turn away a soul in need. When it comes to her personal life she's pretty reserved, only confiding in her closest friend, Lorene, Steban, and her family. Her bookshop is her pride and joy and she loves it passionately. She only sells the best books and ensures it by reading every single book in the store and taking recommendations from only her trusted sources.
Background: Born and raised in Gold Marrow, her family has owned a little bookshop in the town square for as long as she can remember. When she was little she helped her father in the store and thus her love of books was born. Tragedy struck when her parents separated and, in the turmoil that ensued, her father sold the bookshop and left the family for another woman. Emily and her mother worked for years to get the money to buy it back, but eventually they did it. Now her mother has entrusted the shop to her, and she is fiercely protective of it. This leads her to clash with the town's preacher, who claims she is selling "smut" and promoting sin.
Relationships: Jane (mother) and Brian (father). No love interests (she doesn't have the time and since her parents' fight she is very cynical about love). Her best friends with Lorene, Steban, and, after some friction, Dimitri.
Fun fact: her name is in honor of my favorite author, Jasper Fforde. She speaks with a light southern accent
